Advisory Notice to WRSD Families

This morning we received word that a neighboring school district utilized shelter in place protocols at two of their schools due to generalized threats.  We immediately followed up with the law enforcement community in our district and were informed that bomb threats were called into some school districts in the area.

Our district did not receive any threats, but out of an abundance of caution we relayed the information we had to our school principals and remained in communication with police and fire officials throughout the day.  Members of my administrative team and I also visited some of our schools to check-in with our administration and law enforcement partners.

Every one of our schools has an emergency operations plan, which includes protocols for bomb threats, as well as other concerns.  These plans were developed in concert with local law enforcement and are reviewed regularly.  The safety and security of our students, staff, and schools is paramount and we will always inform you if there is any threat to one of our schools as quickly as possible.

Thank you for your continued partnership.
